The location of the fire was on the second floor involving a kitchen and closet. An aggressive interior fire attack was conducted bringing the fire under control within twenty minutes. Primary and secondary searches revealed negative.

First companies found heavy fire showing from the first floor and quickly made entry to extinguish the fire and search the structure for possible occupants. No tenants were home at the time of the fire. The apartment in which the fire originated sustained significant damage with the rest of the building only incurring smoke damage. Upon arrival, companies found a well involved carport attached to a garage with fire extending into the garage. Companies had the fire knocked down in less than 10 minutes. An adjacent neighbor garage and the owner’s car parked nearby sustained moderate fire damage, and a neighboring house and detached garage sustained minor heat damage. The cause of the fire was discarded ashes too close to combustible material. Companies were on the scene for approximately 45 minutes. There were no injuries to civilians or firefighters. Damage is estimated to be at $7500.

While E-29, L-29 and D-2 were investigating, an additional call was received for a one-alarm fire to 1517 Jones Street. Upon investigation these were found to be the same run where a sprinkler was activated due to food left unattended on the stove. The fire was contained to the kitchen area by the sprinkler system and E-29 quickly extinguished the remaining fire. Companies were on scene for about an hour ventilating and cleaning up water damage from the sprinkler activation.

The fire was quickly knocked down as Companies did a search of the apartment. 1 female victim was discovered in the rear bedroom and quickly recued and turned over to a waiting paramedic unit. The initial assessment of the victim showed no signs of life. Due to the rapid rescue, paramedics made the decision to work on the victim. Their efforts were successful and the victim is alive and in the care of the emergency room.

The fire was contained to the kitchen area of one apartment and was caused by unattended food. The occupant had exited prior to CFD arrival. Fire Companies stayed on the scene to evacuate smoke and water for approximately 30 minutes. One adult female was displaced and the Red Cross is assisting. All other occupants in the building were able to return to their units.

The first arriving Fire Companies discovered a fire in Apartment 1103 (13th floor) in the 16-story 160 unit residential high-rise building. Due to the building being a high-rise residential structure, a second alarm was requested for additional resources. An aggressive interior attack was initiated and the fire was quickly extinguished within 15 minutes. The fire was contained to one apartment. There is no sprinkler system in this building however smoke detectors alerted tenants. The Red Cross is assisting with two displaced adults. All other occupants in the building were able to return to their apartments after the fire. One firefighter was transported to the hospital with a minor ailment. Fire Companies remained on the scene for approximately 2 hours.

Initial companies were delayed getting to the scene due to traffic being at a stand-still and additional companies were requested to respond and approach the scene traveling north on I-75S from Mitchell Ave. Once on scene companies found a semi tractor trailer on it’s side with the cab compartment fully involved. The fire was quickly extinguished and the driver was able to escape with minor injuries, but was transported to the hospital by St. Bernard Fire for evaluation. The accident occurred in the stretch of 75 that is in St. Bernard. Cincinnati Fire worked with St. Bernard and determined none of the product, which was a marine pollutant, was leaking from the tanker. The CFD environmental crimes unit along with ODOT, Ohio EPA and Clean Harbors were all on scene working with St. Bernard to determine the best plan for cleaning-up the scene. The truck had approximately 150 gallons of diesel fuel on board at the time of the accident that either burned or was washed away. The highway is expected to remain closed through rush hour tomorrow morning while crews are working to clean the scene and upright the tanker.

Prior to arrival, police stated that a female had jumped from the bridge. Cincinnati Fire had joint Operations with Covington Fire Department and deployed a total of 2 Fire Boats and 2 Zodiac Boats onto the Ohio River. Within approximately 15 minutes a barge on the river had located the victim and relayed the location to the Fire Boats. Covington Boat 1 was able to secure her and bring her to shore at the Public Landing. The victim was extricated from the river and transported to the hospital via Cincinnati Fire Department paramedics. Total length of this Operation was approximately 1 hour.

Upon arrival on scene it was discovered an elderly person accidently drove his tractor over a wall dropping about 10 feet into the river. A search was immediately initiated by Cincinnati Fire, Ohio Department of Natural Resources, and Boone County Water Rescue. Boone County Water Rescue divers also searched the river around the tractor and were unable to locate the victim. The Coast Guard was notified and was alerting all traffic in the area to keep a watch for a person in the water. The victim is still missing and recovery attempts were suspended due to the weather and darkness until tomorrow at which time Boone County will resume their search.
