One of the discussions at the History Book meeting a few months back was the topic of what we believed were the 10 most significant events that changed the CFD or may have a future impact.
Here is the list that was created at the time.
-motorization -change in working schedules/shifts -diversity in the department -personal safety devices (turnout gear, SCBA, bunker pants, PAS device, etc.) -EMS -urban renewal/highways -aerial ladder trucks -radio communications, CAD, 911 system -annexation 1890-1920 -Chief Barney Houston -overtime -1 3/4" hose, canvas to plastic hose, 5" supply hose
