Back in the mid to late 80s, I remember that CFD ran a small fleet of Ford Econoline Type II ambulances. Unfortunately, the experiment didn't go so well with one of the samples immolating itself somewhere along Columbia Parkway. So with that in mind, a few questions:
1. What happened to the rest of the samples? I'm pretty sure there was a lawsuit against Ford, but the actual vehicles seemingly disappeared overnight; never to be seen again.
2. Are there any photos out there? I do remember they were all-red, with the yellow city seal on the door and not much else. I tried Google and came up with nothing.
Thanks.

I'm not aware of any photos other than a shot that appeared on the 1987 (?) annual report. The burned up ambulance sat in Engine 12's quarters for a long while as the lawsuit was being negotiated. I believe the other ambulances were either traded back or sold. I saw a photo about 5 years ago of an ambulance that a department in western Kentucky had been using as an equipment truck. I thought that the vehicle was one of the former CFD pieces as I couldn't see anything that differed.
