CFD Media Advisory - Immediate Release
On December 26th many you will probably be spending time with you loved ones, or returning gifts to local stores.
The Cincinnati Fire Department will be saying “good bye” to a man who served forty-six years as a Cincinnati Fire fighter. That is right, forty-six years of dedicated public service to the citizen’s of Cincinnati Ohio. December 26 will be the last twenty-four hour tour of duty that Lieutenant Piening will work as an Active Cincinnati Fire fighter.
On Saturday morning at 07:00 hours, Fire Lieutenant Albert B. Piening “Uncle Al”, will be “Out taping the Box” from Rescue 2. Lieutenant Piening’s career began with the Cincinnati Fire Department on May 6, 1962 at the Liberty and Linn Streets Fire Training Center “Drill School” to some, “Fire College” to others. John F. Kennedy was the President of the United States and Al was a young twenty-two year old man.
Over the years Al worked at the following fire stations in various capacities, some of the fire companies have since be disbanded.
·Ladder Company 1, 9th and Broadway- fire fighter (subbie)
·Engine Company 37 River Road and Lilienthal Avenue- fire fighter
·Ladder Company 15 Eastern and Martin Street – Aerial Truck Operator (ATO)
·Fire District 1 Downtown “The Bright Lights” – Traveling Fire Lieutenant
·Engine Company 23 Madison and Moorman Street – Fire Lieutenant
·Rescue 2 Clifton and Ludlow “EMS Shift Supervisor” Citywide Paramedic Lieutenant
As you can see Al’s career has spanned many decades so I would ask anyone who receives this email to give Fire Lieutenant Albert B. Piening telephone call to wish him well with his retirement 513-352-3044. The media is encouraged to spend some time with Fire Lieutenant Piening on his last tour of duty.
