Does anyone have any info or stories about my father Charles (Charlie) Schuster, my grandfather Charles F Schuster, my great uncle George Schuster, my great grandfather Henry Schuster or a Captain Placke. All were Cincinnati firefighters from the 1850s until the 1980s.
Firefighters rarely talk about their work to non-firefighters, therefore I have no information about my dad 'the firefighter'. I also have no information on the rest of the firefighters in the family.
Can anyone shed some light on my research?
1. Charlie Schuster was in the department from '53 until '81. When he retired he was a tillerman on ladder 14 in Carthage. 2. Charles F Schuster retired sometime in the 60s. He was with an engine company (maybe on Reading Road). 3. George Schuster installed and repaired alramboxes. 4. I know nothing about Henry Schuster 5. Captain Placke (Henry Schuster's brother in law) was a captain in the1850s.
Thanks, Joe Schuster jschuster@cinci.rr.com

Hi Joe,
I haven't had a chance to look at all of the annual reports here, but I have found two folks with the last name of Placke.
The first is in the annual report for the financial year ending 02-28-1868. It shows a J. H. Placke (Age 28, address 200 W. Front Street) as a watchman at Washington Steam Engine Co. #1.
In the annual report for the year ending 02-29-1872 there is a Hermann Placke (Age 28, address Warsaw Pike) listed on the roster of Storrs Steam Company #17.
I'll keep looking around for people with those surnames.
Take care,
Steve

Thanks George!
I can't remember Captain Placke's first name. I will go over to the cemetery where he is buried and look for him. That might make things a bit easier.
Thanks Again, Joe
