I understand that the card for Sayler Park calls for the 50's, 37's, 17's. Is it possible for the 24's to get to Sayler Park before the 17's? I know that the 17's can hit River Rd. & fly all the way out, but I'm still curious.

How about Delhi TWP. FD? Would it make sense for an automatic mutual aid response for a one-alarm in Sayler Park?

Depends on location and time of day. During evening rush hour, the 17 could get caught in traffic and slowed. Of course the 24's could also. For runs out nearer to Cleves Warsaw Pike, the 24's have a good chance of getting there as early and possibly earlier. If the 24s take Rapid Run, the 17s have the advantage. Rapid Run is too winding to take the turns at good speed. I am in favor of mutual aid from Delhi. Their new station puts them closer than the 37s. But hey, I'm just a dumb roughneck.

George, I agree with you about the automatic mutual aid with Delhi. However, I think that if anybody is called it should be Station 36...on Unit 2 days. 8)

Delhi Sta. 30 is now responding anytime the 50's are out of thier district(going to the store, or training), and can also be called for any incident by the officer of Eng. 50. This has been in affect for the past 2 months

Is Delhi running 4-person fire companies or do they still run the engine & squad combo with the 2 & 2 split?

Gregg, Delhi still runs what we call "First Emergency", thats four people in station that respond on what ever comes in first. (we are trying to change that) But, if two people are back when the squad goes into the hosp. and a mutual aid fire comes in for station 30, station 33 would respond with a four person crew. We don't see any point in sending two people. If you need an engine, you need a four person engine.

Thanks for the info. Is that the same for runs inside Delhi as well? For fire runs inside the township, does the 2-person unit stay at the station or do they respond as an EMS unit?

Delhi has recently increased staffing. As it stands, the optimum staffing is 5 at the 36's, 5 at the 33's and 4 at the 30's. the run cards have been changed to allow for an engine to stay in service when the squad is on a run if they are operating at full staff at that station. Usually what will happen is that if an ALS transport is at the hospital, if the squad from the 33's or the 36's are out, that station will still have 3 people manning the engine and the 30's will have 2 if their squad is out.
P.S. It was nice to have all CFD at the fire on lower Delhi earlier this week. Everyone worked really well together.
