If anyone noticed the new Seagrave ladders came with painted red front bumpers, and now this is being carried over to the current apparatus. It's a small detail, but it does change the appearance quite a bit. I first noticed it on a reserve ladder, and then saw it on front-line E23 last week. My ISP does not allow hot-linking so unfortunately I cannot post pictures here. I went ahead and put up a page on my web site so you can see: www.cincyfireapparatus.com/cincinnatiredbumpers.htmlI am sure Steve would also want them to paint the cabs while they're at it...

Silver paint would give off a higher visibility and a more polished look. Thats how they did it back in the Old School.

Engine 24 got one of the red bumpers last summer. Had something to do with the cost of replacing the chrome one more often than necessary. From the looks of their pumper after the lastest incident, the bumper did its job. Personnaly, I like em. As for the chevrons on the new heavy rescue, eeeewwwww. How damn safe are we gonna be? Level of danger is directly related to pay scale. And fear is never boring!

If they look like the bumbers that we have on our rigs. I'll tell you this, if you have drivers that tend to hit things on occasions these things are great. Hardly any damage to bumber other than paint removed.
