Anyone know the status of the new Luverne pumpers? Have they been delivered? How about the status of the "newer" CR-1 (the Oshkosh T-3000) - any timeline as to when it will be placed in-service at the 18's?
A brief note about county apparatus... Golf Manor FD (47's) just placed a 2001 Seagrave rescue-pumper in-service. It's equipped with a 6-person tilt cab, 1500 gpm Waterous single stage pump, 750 gallon water tank, 30 gallon foam tank, AMPS PTO generator, and a lot of storage compartments. Really nice rig!
Stay safe folks! Mark

On Monday a guy was in from the garage and said they had not even seen them yet. He said they had been delivered to the local dealer, and that the apparatus supervisor, the Chief and some one from safety had gone to check them for specification. No word yet on whether they were even accepted.

Two of the new pumper were deleivered to the garaage recently. Word is they may be placed in service as soon as mid-november. Oddly enough it is still unknown (at least to me) who will get them. I have heard any thing from the 17's to the 19's to 5's to the 51's to even the 50's. Your guess is as good as mine.
The new Osh-Kosh, who knows, from what I hear it has been one problem after another.
Stay Safe

Hello all.
Had the day off work today...so I stopped by the Municipal Garage. The four new Spartan/Luvernes were being inspected by CFD and the Garage. I spoke with a Mr. Larry Logan from A.R.M.S. Inc. (New Fire Truck Dealer in Anna, Ohio.) The chassis and cabs were manufactured at in Michigan?, driven to Luverne in South Dakota for the pump and hose bed, back to Anna, Ohio for some dealer add-ons (including fire extinguishers) then to Cincinnati. The cabs are very roomy and have a large storage compartment in the center. The rigs still need CFD graphics, and one had equipment #11671 in the window. Still no word on which companies they will be assigned to.
Later,
Dave

I heard from a couple of folks that the Luverne engines were no longer at the Municipal Garage. Does anyone know what is going on with them? Have they gone back to the dealer for some reason? What's goin' on?

Still hoping to hear the fate of the 4 engines. I'll settle for rumors at this point. Anyone?

Steve - one of the guys on the Extra Alarm made contact with the garage and they reported: "let's just say that they're gone"!
We're going to try to find out if they didn't meet specs or if there was some other underlying problem. Thats what I've heard so far...

The Luvernes were officially rejected by the CFD. Luverne made an appeal, however, apparently CFD is not happy with it. Also, after being sent back to Luverne, one of the pumpers has now been damaged at the Luverne facility.

Hi Gregg,
Thanks for the information. Do you happen to know what the "appeal" process is? Beg and plead at city hall? Anybody out there. How long before they rebid the pumper contract?
Also, do you happen to know what the damage was?

I think the damage is a badly damaged cab. I believe that the rest is confidential. I'll let you know when I hear.

I was at the MG the day the pumpers were there and they did not seem happy with them at all. I did manage to get about 15 pics of them though before I was run off by the machanics. They Looked REALLY nice to me.

I guess Luverne is not happy with Cincinnati, because they removed the picture of the Cincy Luverne from their "New Deliveries web page" Any more word on why they were rejected? http:\\wefr15.tripod.com
