1 Alarm Fire: 1260 Elberon Avenue (Price's Hill) Date: 1/01/2008 Time: 22:19 hrs
This is Acting District 1 Fire Chief John Klosterman reporting on a fire which occurred in Price Hill. Fire companies were dispatched to 1260 Elberon Avenue at 10:19 PM on 1/01/08.
Upon arrival fire units confirmed a working fire in a two-story frame building. The fire was in the structure’s basement and first floor walls, and was quickly spreading the height of the building due to the structure’s balloon construction.
Firefighters aggressively attacked the fire, which was on the structure’s first and second floors, while roof ventilation was conducted. The fire was brought under control in approximately 30 minutes. Firefighters were hampered due to snow conditions and freezing water.
The building appeared to be vacant and under renovation. A fire investigator was called to the scene to determine the cause of the fire; the fire cause is undetermined. Fire damage is estimated at $10,000. There was no report of injuries. There were 28 fire personnel at this incident.
