There is no indication in the records of the CFD that any type of fire station has ever existed in Roselawn, Kennedy Heights, or California.
Has anyone ever come across information that would indicate that there might have been a volunteer department in any of these neighborhoods that was not brought into the CFD when the areas were annexed?

It would be nice to see photos of any of the former volunteer companies (Avondale, Clifton, Westwood, Linwood). Anybody have any?

I know that the Linwood house is still standing on Heekin - when annexed it became the 36's house. And, although it's been bricked up, you can still see the old bay at the Westwood Town Hall that housed the volunteers and then the 35's after Westwood was annexed...

Steve,
I've read some of the history of Pleasant Ridge and it mentioned that their townhall (still standing on Ridge just north of Montgomery) housed a volunteer fire company, although there is no indication of this on the building (maybe they had a frame shed?). I wonder if the Pleasant Ridge volunteers covered Kennedy Heights... (And this was before Engine-53's house on Losantiville...)

Is anyone aware of former volunteer companies that were closed when the area that they protected was annexed by Cincinnati? For exmaple, the Bond Hill VFD was disbanded when Engine 40 was established after annexation. Were there companies that were volunteer that weren't replaced by a C.F.D. company.....

Hi!
Dave & I were going through the Sandborn insurance maps online. They show that Engine 53 was located where the parking lot for the country club is now.
Also based on the maps it appears that California did not have a fire department of any type.
What was most interesting about these fire insurance maps is that the exact location of old stations can be seen! We may add a few of the map images to the site.
