With the numerous calls for a Fire Investigator throughout the day and night, do the Investigators continue to have a high morale since they are on-call and called in constantly on their off-time?
Are any of the Investigators interested in going into a 24/48 rotation? If so, it seems that there are enough Investigators (or close to enough) that some could work a 40 hour work week and some work the 24/48 schedule. Maybe, the city could be convinced to add a couple of additional Investigators to fill the gaps if necessary. It seems that the Investigation Unit is always busy.

Because I only sleep about 8 minutes a night, it does strike me that I hear the investigators get called at least once between midnight and 4:00 a.m. on a rather regular basis. Having an on duty investigator is the norm in many larger departments and might be a pratical idea for the CFD.
