District5 and me drove by the Municipal Garage yesterday. Stopped and looked in the windows and there are still only 2 of the Sutphen engines there. One of them was having the lettering applied and the blue door seal that has been used on the last couple of ambulance purchases is on the front door of the engine.
In looking at the rig from the rear it is quite noticeable that the cabinets on the drivers side are much deeper than what has been provided in the past. The overall appearance of the engines is nice with the exception of the fact that the roof is painted the wrong color....

Word is that Engines 2 & 9 received the first two Sutphens to go into service instead of the spare fleet and that the second pair will also be assigned to companies as first-line apparatus.

I saw Engine 9 yesterday, in their new Sutphen, with the number 9 decal on the door.

Made a run with the 23's the other day and they said that they aren't getting a new Sutphen. Heard that the 9's, the 2's, the 38's and the 21's are getting the new Sutphens, with the 9's already having been placed into front line service.

The city did indeed receive 4 new sutphen pumpers. Originally intended to replace the Ferarras as spares, the Sutphens will be assigned to Engine 21, Engine 9, Engine 2 and Engine 38. The 9s and 21s already have takien delivery.
On a personal note: these pumpers are an interesting make up. Very low ground clearance, the 5 inch piping runs under the battery compartment. The back end is mostly diamond plate, very little painted metal. Drivers seat is tight. And the front bumper sits almost 6 feet from the front wheels, these things are likely to bottom out on the step hills and driveways of Cincy. They looked rushed, missing little things, like spot lights on the doors.
Only time will tell, how they work out, they would be great spares.

A friend of mine was at the Sutphen plant in late June. At the time he said that there were 2 engines under construction that were marked as being for Cincinnati. Is anyone aware of additional Sutphen engines delivered or on order?

Hi,
I've heard that Engines 32 & 35 will be receiving the 2 latest Sutphen rigs. Engine 35 will be reassigned to Engine 49.

Engine 32 is supposed to be changing over to the Sutphen today. Have the 35's made the switch?
