8) Hi!
I would like to compile as much information as possible on former Cincinnati rigs that have been sold and then placed in service with other fire departments. <br> For example, the 1982 Ford-Grumman pumper that was in service at En. 35 is now Unit 34 with the Bardstown-Nelson County, Kentucky F.D. Engine 51's 82 Ford-Grumman is now Engine 3 at Farmers, Kentucky.
If you have any information regarding the location of former CFD apparatus, please let me know!
Thanks,
Steve

Seven Mile Fire Department in Butler Co. owned one of Cincinnati's old Luginani engines for a time. I don't believe they still have it, though. You could contact them for more information.

In the time frame of roughly 1978-1982, Newport, Kentucky purchased an ex-CFD Seagrave engine and placed the rig in service as Engine 903 at their station on Main Street in South Newport.
Does anyone know which rig this was or is there someone out there with a photo of the engine when it was in service at Newport?

I just finished a photo update for the web site. Among the new entries is a picture of Engine 16's 1918 Ahrens-Fox that was sold to Delhi Township in 1935. Take a look....

My name is Tony Glindmeyer, my dad was Bill Glindmeyer of Covington Fire Dept. The 2 units were bought as new direct from Seagrave & the late Jake O' Malley. My father tested them at Prisoners Lake in Devou Park. They were very similar to CFD's engines at time, but they were built to Newports specs, they were delivered around 74 or so before my dad retired as fire marshal/master machanic from Covington. I was also witness to the acceptance tests at theage of 8 y/o In the time frame of roughly 1978-1982, Newport, Kentucky purchased an ex-CFD Seagrave engine and placed the rig in service as Engine 903 at their station on Main Street in South Newport. Does anyone know which rig this was or is there someone out there with a photo of the engine when it was in service at Newport?

Hi Tony,
The rigs your speaking of were a pair of 1974 Seagrave engines that were initially assigned to Engines 901 & 902.
Engine 903 had a 1950's or early 60's ex-CFD Seagrave that replaced their 1959 Pirsch. By the time I heard the rig was over there it had also been replaced. I'm hoping to fond a photo of it when it was re-lettered and in service with the NFD.
Welcome to the board, hope to hear more from you.
Steve

Steve, I have a few Ky. Fireman's Convention books as well as a scrapbook my mom gave me after my father passed away in 97. I know I have a picture of the 59 Pirsch NFD had , Covington had the sister to it. This scrapbook of mine has pictures a few don't know about. I get asked by some now& again. I also have newspapers from Beverly Hills Supper Club as well as a few other major N.KY. fires if you're interested let me know, we'll set something up. I had an uncle in the CFD at the 24; his name is Dan McFarren "MAC" . He served at the 32's on Rockdale , the 39's ,19's Truck7(FAO) and the 24's where he retired in 96. I party w/ him at his camp in Indiana during the summer months. My phone number is 244-1413, I live in Price Hill on Manss Ave. House number is 1232. Talk at ya later,Tony

Batesville, Indiana purchased the 1923 Ahrens-Fox service truck that was originally Truck 7. They operated the rig into the 1960's. Old Truck 7 is now in a private collection in Michigan.

Ryland Heights F.D. in Kenton County operates this 1982 Seagrave that was originally Engine 34. Other than a paint job, there isn't a whole lot different about the rig since it left CFD.

Georgetown, Kentucky has purchased former shop #01673 for use as a spare. This 1990 Seagrave pumper (serial #Y 78244) was originally assigned to Engine 20 and then moved to Engine 7.

I was recently at Summit Fire Apparatus in Edgewood Ky. and in the back bays, there is one of the Seagrave Tele Squrts that was assigned to E-3 or E-19. The body has been removed due to this unit was purchased to be refurbed and sold but the department buying it backed out per Joe Messmer, owner of Summit.
