I just saw on the city site that bids are out for 9 more or less new engines. Bids due in by 7/17. has anyone seen new specifications? If so, are you able to determine which manufacturer builds a vehicle similiar to the spec?

Planholders include: Ferrara, A.R.M.S. (Luverne), Vogelpohl (Ferrara), All-American (E-One), Warren (K.M.E. & U.S. Tanker), American LaFrance, Fuller Ford, West Gate Ford, Tri-State (Seagrave), and Seagrave

I'm familiar with most of the planholders, but does anyone know if the following are sales agents for a Fire Apparatus Manufacturer:
Fuller Ford West Gate Ford
Does A.R.M.S. sell anything other than Luverne? Does Vogelpohl sell anything other than Ferrara? and finally, am I correct that Tri-State is the local Seagrave rep?
Thanks

I believe Bill Vogelpohl now respresents ALF. You're correct that Tri-State is Seagrave. West Gate Ford is in Youngstown. I e-mailed a couple of folks up that way to see if they now who they represent but I haven't heard back from them.

Is Sutphen going to make an attempt on the bid?
Is CFD required to take the low bid or can they select a a different bid if they can justify the higher dollar amount?
Is the bid for custom or commerical chassis?

I was surprised that the city web site doesn't show Sutphen as purchasing a copy of the bid document. I guess this means they won't be bidding.
Unless something has changed you can only purchase a higher priced rig if you can demonstrate that the low bid rig has too many exceptions to the specifications.
I haven't read the bids specs, but I was told that they require a sole sourch supplier for the cab, chassis, and body. That would mean that only companies that build on their own chassis could meet the specifications.

There is another planholder listed on the city web site for the pumper bid. Does anyone know who "Government Fleet Sales" represents?

I may have missed it, but has a contract been awarded for new engines? If so, who will the supplier be?

The bid for the pumpers is still listed as "Open/Under Evaluation" on the Purchasing Department web site. There are various rumors circulating as to who will receive the bid.
I'll start one now, [shadow=red,left,300]Seagrave![/shadow]
