I receive this photo from a friend in Chicago. This is one of the 4 Luverne engines built for CFD and rejected last year. 2001 Spartan/Luverne 1500 gpm/500 tank/60 foam Serial #11129 Jack Connors Photo

I probably missed the reason. Why were they rejected??

Hi FireCpt 809,
The rig had numerous deviations from the specs. One of the more serious devaitions was that the body dememsions were too wide and long. CFD has a couple of stations were these pumpers wouldn't have fit into.
Next time your down on Sacramento Street (the shops for you Cincy locals) say Hi! to Jack Connors...

It looks as though another of the 'wayward Luvernes' has found a home. On Luverne's new deliveries page, the truck for the Borough of Deal, New Jersey looks awfully familiar.

3 down & 1 to go. Maplewood Twp., NJ is the new owner of one of the CFD rejected engines.

Maplewood, NJ Spartan/Luverne is shown on page 6 of the July-August 2003 issue of FAJ.

Drove past A.R.M.S Inc last night who originally sold these rigs to the city. They still have one of these rigs sitting in front of their facility. It is on I-75 at the Anna Exit.

I was up north last week, and it appears that one of the Luvernes was sitting at A.R.M.S. I didn't have time to stop to get any information, but I know I'll be back up that way next week. I'll get a photo if I stop.
