1 Alarm Fire: 1827 Campbell Alley (Street) btn. W. Elder & Findlay (Over The Rhine) Date: 09/21/07 Time: 18:41 hrs
This is District Chief Anson Turley reporting on a one-alarm fire.
At 6:41 PM fire companies were dispatched to a report of a building fire at 1827 Campbell Alley. Fire companies arrived to find light smoke coming from the first floor of a brick three-story multi-dwelling.
Fire crews entered the structure and extinguished a fire burning in the kitchen of a first floor apartment. The fire was ignited when a child, that was cooking left food unattended on the stove. Smoke alarms warned the occupants of the fire and aided in the occupants escape. This highlights the need to always have working smoke alarms in your residence.
The fire displaced the three adults and four children who lived in the apartment. No injuries to firefighters or civilians occurred. Damage is set at $20,000.

2 Alarm Fire: 632 Rockdale Avenue btn. Knot & the dead end. (Avondale) Fire Box 2347 Date: 09/23/2007 Time: 10:14 hrs
This is Acting District One Fire Chief George J. Hornback reporting on a two-alarm fire, which occurred at 632 Rockdale Avenue, which is located in Avondale. The fire was reported at 10:14 AM on 9/23/07.
Upon arrival, company’s confirmed a working fire in the three-story frame apartment building. Occupants advised fire crews that everyone was out of the building. Thereafter, fire companies conducted a primary search of the structure to ensure that all occupants had exited the building.
The fire was brought under control within 30 to 40 minutes due to an aggressive interior attack on the fire. Complete extinguishment took over two hours because of the type of construction.
A fire investigator was called to the scene to determine the cause of the fire. After his investigation, it was determined that a minor playing with matches started the fire. The fire was started unintentionally.
Fire loss was set at $110,000 for the structure; the amount of loss to its contents has not been determined. The American Red Cross is assisting families that will not be able to return to their apartments. There are no reports of civilians or firefighters injured.
There were 35 fire personnel at this incident.

1 Alarm Fire: 1612 Elm Street (Over The Rhine) Date: 09/25/07 Time: 04:30 hrs
This is District Two Fire Chief Anson Turley reporting on a one-alarm fire, which occurred on 9/25/07 at 1612 Elm in Over the Rhine; fire companies were dispatched to a report of a building fire at 04:30 AM.
Upon their arrival, they found a three story brick structure with light smoke coming from its basement. There was a small fire located in a container in that area. There was no significant structural damage but smoke spread throughout the structure; the fire was quickly extinguished.
Fire Damage is estimated at $1,000; there were no injuries to firefighters or civilians. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

1 Alarm Fire: 216 E. Rochelle Street btn Gerard St & Bellevue Ave (Corryville) Date: 9/29/2007 Time: 18:18 hrs
This is Acting District Three Chief Thomas Chappell reporting on a one-alarm fire that occurred in Clifton at 216 E. Rochelle Street.
At 6:18 pm firefighters responded to a report of a one-alarm fire at 216 E Rochelle. Upon arriving firefighters found moderate smoke coming from the first, second and third floors of a three-story two-family dwelling.
Fire companies started an interior attack on the fire quickly knocking it down on the structure’s second and third floors. The fire did minor to moderate damage to the structure, resulting in approximately $15,000 in damages.
Twenty-two firefighters were used to battle the blaze. No one was injured; the family dog was found hiding in a closet and was rescued by firefighters. The fire cause is undetermined and fire investigators are still on the scene investigating the matter.

1 Alarm Fire 7211 Market Place, Carthage Date 10/01/07 Time: 02:18 Hours
District Three Fire Chief Glenn Coleman reported on a one-alarm fire that occurred in Carthage at 7211 Market Place.
At 2:18 am, firefighters responded to a report of a one-alarm fire at 7211 Market Place . Police investigating a burglar alarm saw smoke in the building; upon arriving, firefighters confirmed the presence of smoke inside a one-story machine shop.
Firefighters forced entry into the structure due to the business being closed. After entering, fire crews discovered a large milling machine on fire. The fire was extinguished within 15 minutes, and it was confined primarily to the machinery. The fire started when a malfunction in the machine occurred and it ignited.
Fire loss is estimated at $115,000. No one was injured. Owner was notified and responded to the scene.

Two-alarm Fire: 1636 Main Street, Over the Rhine Date: 10/05/07 Time: 03:32 Hours
District Chief Ronald Davis of the Cincinnati Fire Department reported on a two-alarm that occurred in the Over the Rhine on 10/5/07 at 03:32 AM. Fire companies responded to a report of a building fire at 1636 Main Street. Upon arriving fire crews found heavy fire on the second, third and fourth floors of a vacant four-story multi-dwelling.
Fire companies made a defensive attack on the fire and brought the bulk of the fire under control in approximately 30 minutes. Thereafter firefighters advanced into the building and extinguished the remaining pockets of fire. Fire loss is estimated at $100,000. The fire cause is listed as undetermined and is being investigated by the Cincinnati Fire Investigation Unit. There were no civilians injured, one firefighter received minor injuries after his legs went through a hole in the structure’s fourth floor, he was treated at scene.

2 Alarm Fire, 120 Findlay Street (Over the Rhine) Date: 10-6-07 Time: 04:28 Hours
Acting District Chief David Greve reported on a two-alarm fire that occurred this morning at 120 Findlay Street in the Over the Rhine. The fire happened on 10/6/07 at 04:28 AM in a three-story brick occupied apartment building.
The Cincinnati Fire Department responded and found, a fire on the structure’s second floor and the electrical wires arcing. They were also informed that people were trapped
A search of structure was conducted and the building was evacuated. The fire was quickly brought under control with no injuries. The cause of the fire is being investigated. The fire caused approximately $20,000 damage to the building.
There were no civilian or firefighter injuries.

2 Alarm Fire, 2944 Van Dyke Drive, (Mt. Lookout) Date: 10-7-07 Time: 18:15 Hours
Acting District Fire Chief Daniel Merz reported on a two-alarm fire, which occurred at 2944 Van Dyke Drive. The fire was reported at 6:15 PM by a neighbor. Initial reports from the caller was smoke coming from the structure’s kitchen, no occupants in the house.
Upon arrival, fire companies found a two-story single family dwelling with smoke coming from the front of the structure and heavy fire emitting out of the back of the building.
Fire crews made an aggressive interior attack on the fire, bringing it under control in approximately 40 minutes. Fire companies are still on the scene with fire investigators, extinguishing hot spots.
There were 51 fire personnel on the scene. Two firefighters suffered minor injuries and were transported to the hospital and released. No report of civilian injuries. The fire is currently under investigation; the fire loss is estimated at $200,000.

1 Alarm Fire: 1336 Joseph Avenue, Bond Hill Date: 10-12-07 Time: 06:45 Hours
District Three-Fire Chief Glenn Coleman reported on a one-alarm fire that occurred in Bond Hill. The fire happened at 1336 Joseph Avenue on 10/12/07 at 6:54 AM.
At that time firefighters responded to a report of a one-alarm fire at 1336 Joseph Avenue. Upon arriving they found heavy smoke coming from the top of a two-story dwelling. Firefighters found insulation on fire in the structure’s attic. It was caused by an electrical short, which ignited the insulation. The fire was confined to the attic.
The structure sustained heavy damage due to the fire and firefighting efforts. Twenty-eight firefighters were used to battle the blaze. Working smoke alarms alerted the occupants of the danger and they escaped without being harmed, and no firefighters were injured.
The fire loss is estimated at $50,000.

1 Alarm Fire: 935 Wells Street, Price Hill Date: 10-15-07 Time: 21:40 Hours
District Chief Howard Reed from District One of the Cincinnati Fire Department, reported on a fire, which occurred at 935 Wells Street in Price Hill.
At 9:40 p.m. on 10/15/07, fire companies were dispatched to the above address for a report of smoke in the building. When the first fire company arrived, it found light smoke showing from the attic of a two-story frame single-family dwelling.
The fire, which had started in a closet on the second floor, extended up an interior wall, and was confined and quickly extinguished. The occupants of the building at the time of the fire were two adults and eight children. All escaped without injury. There were no working smoke alarms in the structure.
The cause of the fire is under investigation; damage estimate is $10,000 to the structure and its contents.
This fire displaced two adults and eight children; the American Red Cross was requested to assist the family in finding housing. There were no reports of injuries to any firefighters or civilians.

1 Alarm Fire: 1927 Kinney Avenue, Evanston
District Four Fire Chief Thomas Lakamp reported on a one-alarm fire that occurred at 1927 Kinney Avenue in Evanston, on October 17, 2007 at 11:00 p.m.
Upon arrival, fire companies found fire from the second floor window of a three-story occupied multi-dwelling. A rapid-fire attack by fire crews quickly extinguished the fire within ten minutes. The structure was occupied at the time of the fire and all occupants escaped without injury. The tenant of the apartment of fire origin was not at home. The building was equipped with smoke alarms, which were sounding when firefighters arrived.
Twenty-eight firefighters responded to the incident; there were no civilian or firefighter injuries. The cause of the fire is under investigation and damage is estimated at $10,000. Two families are displaced as a result of the fire and will be staying with family members.

Two Alarm Fire: 3953 Vine Street, Avondale Date: October 27, 2007 Time: 05:24 Hours
District Four Fire Chief Thomas Lakamp reported on a two-alarm fire that occurred at 3953 Vine Street in Avondale on October 27, 2007 at 05:24 a.m.
Upon arrival fire companies found heavy fire venting from the building’s second floor windows. Also occupants reported that individuals were trapped inside the structure. The first alarm fire companies initiated an aggressive fire attack on the fire and began search and rescue activities. One occupant was removed from the structure by firefighters; the occupant, a 25 year old-female, died as a result of her injuries. Two additional adult occupants were transported to a hospital.
Fifty-three firefighters responded to the fire. Preliminary investigation has revealed no working smoke alarms in the building. The American Red Cross is on scene and providing shelter for four adults and two children.

2 Alarm Fire: 129 West 66th Street btn Van Kirk & Rosewood (Carthage) Date: 11/11/2007 Time: 08:00 hrs
This is District Chief Anson Turley of the Cincinnati Fire Department reporting on a fire which happened this morning at 129 W 66th Street.
At 08:00 AM on 11/11/07 fire companies were dispatched to report of a building fire at 129 W 66th Street. When fire units arrived they found a two- story single family dwelling with heavy fire emitting from the rear of the dwelling.
The proximity of secondary exposures and the large volume of fire required a second fire alarm to be dispatched to the incident at 08:21 AM; the fire was brought under control within 25 minutes.
The home located at 129 W 66th Street was occupied by three people at the time of the fire. A 12-year old heard a smoke alarm sounding and upon investigating found a fire in the kitchen. The smoke alarm also alerted the other occupants and all safely left the house. The incident shows the importance of having a working smoke alarms on every level of a residence.
The fire cause is under investigation and damage is estimated at $80,000. Two firefighters were injured. One received a severe burn to the hand, the other received an electrical shock; both were transported to the hospital.

This is District Three Chief Paul Weber reporting on a two-alarm fire, which occurred at 2538* Hansford Place in Fairmount.
Upon arrival firefighters reported heavy smoke coming from the second floor of a two-story multi family dwelling. Fire was located in the floors and walls and was extending to the structure's attic area. A second alarm fire response was requested for manpower.
Firefighters were able to open the walls and ceilings and confine the fire to the structure’s second floor. It is undetermined if the building was occupied or vacant. The cause of the fire is under investigation and the loss is estimated at $60,000.

This is District Four Fire Chief Thomas Lakamp reporting on a one-alarm fire that occurred at 5040 Hawaiian Terrace located in Mount Airy. The fire happened on November 25, 2007 at 1:11 p.m.
Upon arrival firefighters found a fire on the second floor of a two-story town home. Firefighters made an interior fire attack on the fire, and quickly brought the fire under control within ten minutes. One occupant was assisted to safety by firefighters, the other occupants escaped prior to the arrival of the fire companies.
Twenty-seven firefighters responded to the fire. The preliminary investigation has revealed no working smoke alarms in the building. The American Red Cross is on scene and providing shelter for two adults and two children. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Cincinnati Fire Investigation Unit. The fire loss is estimated at $50,000.
