1 Alarm Fire: 2857 Fischer Place (Westwood) Date: 01/02/07 Time: 11:25 p.m.
This is District 2 Fire Chief Gary Scott reporting on a one-alarm fire, which occurred at 2857 Fischer Place on January 2, 2007.
At 11:25 PM, fire companies responded to a report of a building on fire. Upon arrival, fire personnel confirmed a working fire in a two-story residential apartment building. An interior attack on the first floor fire was initiated, along with a primary search of the entire structure. The main body of fire on the first floor vacant apartment was under control within a short period of time. The primary search confirmed all occupants had exited the building safely.
A fire investigator was called to the scene to assist with determining the fire cause. At this time, the cause is "undetermined" pending further investigation. Fire loss was set at $15,000. The American Red Cross was called to assist with the displacement of two adult and two children from the second floor apartment. It was undetermined if smoke detectors were sounding. There were 32 fire personnel utilized at this incident. They are still on the fire scene at this time. There were no injuries to civilians or fire fighters as a result of this incident.

1 Alarm Fire: 819 Naeher Street btn Baymiller & Linn (West End) Date: 01/07/07 Time: 06:55 a.m.
This is Acting District One Fire Chief Captain Gregory Potter reporting on an one-alarm fire, which occurred at 819 Naeher Street in the West End. The fire was reported at 06:55 AM on Sunday, January 7, 2007.
Upon arrival, fire companies confirmed a working fire in a two-story building. The building consisted of a garage on the first floor with an apartment above it. The occupants of the apartment had left the building at approximately 06:00 a.m. An aggressive interior attack brought the fire under control in approximately fifteen minutes. There was heavy fire damage to both floors.
A fire investigator was called to the scene to determine the cause of the fire; the cause is undetermined. The loss was set at $20,000. The American Red Cross is assisting the family that will not be able to return to their apartment. There are no reports of civilians or Firefighters injured.
There were 26 fire personnel at this incident. Companies were on the scene for two hours.

1 Alarm Fire: 26 Conklin Street btn Ohio & the dead end (Clifton Heights) Date: 01/12/07 Time: 02:30 p.m.
This is District Two Fire Chief Anson Turley reporting on a house fire that occurred in Clifton.
At 2:30 PM fire companies were dispatched to report of a house on fire at 26 Conklin Avenue. When the first fire unit arrived they found smoke coming from the second floor of a three-story building which housed six different apartments.
Within 10 minutes of their arrival, firefighters had the blaze under control. The apartment in which the fire occurred was unoccupied.
Another tenant who heard the smoke detector sounding called in the fire. There were also no civilian or fire fighter injuries; 25 fire fighters were used to fight the fire.
Fire damage is estimated at $40,000. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

2 Alarm Fire: 2515 McMicken Avenue btn. McNally & Eliza (Fairview) Date: 01/15/07 Time: 05:03 a.m.
This is District Two Fire Chief Gary Scott reporting on a two-alarm fire, which occurred at 2515 McMicken Avenue on January 15, 2007. At 5:03 AM, fire companies responded to a report of an apartment building on fire. Upon arrival, fire personnel confirmed a working fire in a three-story apartment complex. Flames were visible from a third floor corner apartment. An interior attack on the fire was initiated, along with a primary search of the entire structure. Occupants were reported still in the building. A second fire alarm response was requested because of the life hazard. Within a short period of time, the apartment fire was brought under control. However, there was extensive smoke damage to the third floor. The occupant from the apartment where the fire originated was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation. All other occupants had exited the building safely. A fire investigator was called to assist in determining the fire cause. At this time, the cause is "undetermined" pending further investigation. Fire loss was set at $75,000. The American Red Cross was called to assist with the displacement of five families. Smoke alarms were sounding throughout the building. There were 49 fire personnel utilized at this incident. Fire fighters are still on the fire scene as this information is being released.

1 Alarm Fire: 3773 Hutton Street btn Winter & Morse (East End) Date: 01/17/07 Time: 04:45 AM
This is District Chief David Collini reporting on a one-alarm fire that occurred in the Columbia-Tusculum area, in the early morning hours of 1-17-07. Fire crews responded to 3773 Hutton Street at 04:45 AM for a reported building on fire.
A neighbor called 911 reporting the fire; thereafter, fire units arrived and found a fire in the fireplace chimney that extended into the walls of the structure.
Firefighters had a tedious task of opening all the walls from the first floor to the roof, finding fire in those areas. Fire crews remained on the scene for approximately 2 1/2 hours assuring all hot spots were extinguished. No injuries to occupants or fire personnel occurred. Fire loss is estimated at $20,000.

1 Alarm Fire: 6300 Montgomery Road btn. Grand Vista & Robison (Kennedy Heights) Date: 01/19/07 Time: 02:50 AM
This is District Chief Howard Reed from the Cincinnati Fire Department, reporting a one-alarm fire that occurred in an apartment building, located at 6300 Montgomery Road, in the Kennedy Heights neighborhood today at 02:50 A.M.
Upon our arrival, we found heavy smoke coming from the second floor of a two-story brick 32-unit apartment building. Firefighters made an aggressive interior attack bringing the fire under control in less then 15 minutes. The fire was confined to the apartment’s kitchen with heavy smoke damage to the entire apartment.
The fire originated in the kitchen of Apartment #27, and was caused by food being left cooking, unattended on the stove. The tenant stated that the smoke detector alerted him to the fire and that he attempted to extinguish it but failed.
There was approximately $20,000.00 damage done to the apartment of origin, with minor water damage to the apartment below it.
There were no reports of any civilians or firefighters being injured.
American Red Cross assisted the tenant in Apartment #27 in finding housing. All other tenants were able to reoccupy their apartment.

1 Alarm Fire: 1314 Regent Avenue btn. Oakdale & Oberlin(Bond Hill) Fire Box: 2555 Date: 1/22/07 Time: 10:00 p.m.
This is District Fire Chief, Keith Burkert, reporting on an one-alarm fire that occurred in a vacant building located at 1314 Regent Avenue in Bond Hill. The fire happened on Monday 1/22/07 at approximately 10:00 pm.
Upon their arrival, firefighters found heavy smoke coming from a four-family, unoccupied structure that was undergoing remodeling. The fire was located in the structure's basement, and was spreading to the first and second floors.
Firefighters were able to bring the fire under control in about thirty minutes, yet remained on the scene past midnight.
A fire investigator was on the scene and the cause is undetermined at this time. Fire damage is estimated at $10,000. There were no injuries.

3 Alarm Fire: 2333 Kemper Lane Btn. Windsor & Cross (Walnut Hills) Date: 04/08/07 Time: 01:51 a.m.
This is Cincinnati Fire District Chief Fredrick Prather reporting that Cincinnati Firefighters responded to a three-alarm fire that occurred in Walnut Hills.
On Sunday 04/08/07 at 1:51 A.M Cincinnati Firefighters responded to a structure fire that occurred at 2333 Kemper Lane, the location of a large stone Queen Ann Victorian Style Castle, which has been converted into a multi-dwelling.
One of the structure’s occupants called 911, stating he smelled smoke. Two additional individuals were occupying the structure, and the individual that called 911 alerted them of the situation.
Upon arriving Firefighters assisted one of the occupants out of the structure; the other occupants had exited the structure prior to the Fire Department’s arrival. Firefighters also reported that they found heavy fire coming from the first floor rear of the structure with fire extension into the structure’s second floor and attic.
Within twenty-minutes of their arrival fire crews extinguished the main body of fire, saving the majority of the structure. Fire damage was held to the rear sections of the structure’s first and second floors, and attic.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Cincinnati Fire Investigation Unit and is listed as undetermined. The loss is estimated at $200,000. Smoke alarms were working in the structure. The Cincinnati Area Chapter of the American Red Cross is assisting the three adults that were displaced from their homes.
A complement of 10 fire engine companies and six ladder companies and other support staff responded to the incident.

1 Alarm Fire: 2840 Winslow Avenue btn. Lincoln & Oak (Walnut Hills/Corryville) Date: 04/12/07 Time: 23:23 p.m.
This is District Fire Chief Jay Boeing reporting Cincinnati fire fighters responded to a one-alarm fire that occurred at 11:23 PM, April 12, 2007. The fire happened at 2840 Winslow Avenue in Avondale.
First arriving fire companies found heavy fire on the first floor of a two-story occupied brick multi-dwelling. First arriving companies made an aggressive interior attack on the rapidly spreading fire. The fire was contained to the structure’s first floor and hallway.
The occupants were alerted to the situation by the sound of smoke alarms and the smell of smoke.
Twenty-five firefighters bought the fire under control in 30 minutes; fire damage is estimated at $50,000. The cause of the fire is undetermined. There were no injuries.

This is Acting District One Fire Chief Daniel Merz reporting on a one-alarm fire, which happened on 4/13/07 at 8:47 PM. The fire occurred at 5812 Bramble Avenue.
First arriving fire companies found heavy smoke and fire on the second floor of an unoccupied two-story frame building. Fire units made an aggressive interior attack on the fire, extinguishing the bulk of the fire within 25 minutes.
A Fire Investigator was called to the scene to determine fire cause; the cause is undetermined. Fire loss is estimated at $25,000. There were no reports of civilian or firefighter injuries.
Thirty firefighters responded to the incident. Fire companies are still on the scene at this time.

1 Alarm Fire: 1612 Elm Street btn. Green & W. Liberty (Over The Rhine) Date: 04/18/07 Time: 20:55 hrs
This is District Two Chief John Zompero of the Cincinnati Fire Department reporting on a structure fire which occurred on evening of Wednesday 4/18/2007 in Over the Rhine.
Fire companies were dispatched at 8:55 pm to 1612 Elm Street for a report of a building on fire. First arriving fire units found an apartment on the structure’s fourth floor on fire, the fire was quickly extinguished.
The fire did an estimated $7,000 in damage to the apartment. The cause of the fire has not been determined; a person of interest is being questioned. There was a working smoke alarm in the structure’s stairway and it was sounding at the time of the fire. There were no reported injuries.

1 Alarm Fire: 2339 Rohs Street btn. McMillan & Warner (Fairview Heights) One civilian fatality Date: 04/21/07 Time: 06:41 hrs
This is District Chief John Zompero of the Cincinnati Fire Department reporting on an early morning fire that sent several people to the hospital. Fire companies were dispatched at 6:41 am for a reported structure fire at 2339 Rohs Street located in Fairview Heights.
Additional information was communicated to responding units that there may be a person trapped in the building. First arriving companies visualized heavy smoke and fire from the third floor of a three-story frame dwelling.
Several people who claimed to have lived in the building were visibly upset and stated that there were people still inside the burning structure. Firefighters quickly advanced fire lines to the third floor while simultaneously commencing search and rescue operations. Two victims were immediately found and rescued from a second floor roof at the rear of the building; thereafter the two individuals were transported to the hospital.
Within minutes, a third victim was located and removed from the third floor and immediately transported to the hospital. The fire was quickly extinguished during the rescue efforts. There were purportedly 10 to 15 people asleep in the building at the time of the fire. It was also reported by neighbors that they were awaken when they heard a woman screaming from the fire building.
When the neighbors went to investigate, they saw a young woman crouching on a narrow ledge just below the third floor window attempting to escape the flames. They quickly raised an aluminum extension ladder to the ledge and assisted her to the ground. This transpired prior to the Fire Department’s arrival.
The fire did an estimated $40,000 in damage to the building and its contents. The cause of the fire is under investigation. There was no working smoke alarms found in the building.

1 Alarm Fire: 1615 Grantwood Avenue btn Woodburn & Greenlawn (Evanston) Date: 04/22/07 Time: 19:30 hrs
This is District Fire Chief Keith Burkert reporting Cincinnati Firefighters responded to a one-alarm fire that occurred at 7:30 PM, on April 22, 2007. The fire was located at 1615 Grantwood Avenue in Evanston.
First arriving fire companies found heavy fire on the rear porch of a three-story occupied wood frame home. The fire engulfed the rear exterior of the building, extending inside through all doors and windows. Fire companies made an aggressive interior attack on the rapidly spreading fire. The fire was contained to the rear of the home. There were working smoke alarms present; the occupant was alerted to the fire when neighbors banged on her door alerting her to the porch fire.
It took 25 Fire Fighters 30 minutes to bring the fire under control. Fire damage is estimated at $50,000. A fire cause has not been determined; no injuries were reported.

2 Alarm Fire: 823 Glenwood Avenue btn Reading & Glenwood Pl. (Avondale) Date: 04/23/07 Time: 14:15 hrs
This is District Fire Chief Fredrick Prather reporting Cincinnati Firefighters responded to a two-alarm fire on April 24, 2007 at 2:15 PM. The fire occurred at 823 Glenwood Avenue in Avondale.
Upon arriving fire companies were confronted with heavy smoke and fire on the top floor of a large three-story, vacant wood frame dwelling. Firefighters quickly entered the structure to extinguish the fire, but fire and structural conditions required that fire crews exit the building and defensively fight the fire using exterior hose streams.
Once it was safe to re-enter the structure firefighters went in and extinguished the fire. The fire was confined to the second and third floors, and roof of the structure.
Thirty-two firefighters and other support staff were used to fight the fire, the fire was brought under control in 60 minutes. Fire damage is estimated at $30,000. A fire cause has not been determined and is being investigated by the Cincinnati Fire Investigation Unit.

2 Alarm Fire: 3445 Woodburn Avenue btn Dauner & Clarewood (Evanston) Date: 04/27/07 Time: 05:07 hrs
This is District Four Fire Chief Robert McWilliams reporting on a two-alarm fire that happened on April 27, 2007 at 5:07 AM. The fire occurred at 3445 Woodburn Avenue in Evanston.
When fire units arrived, they found heavy fire on the first and second floors of a large Two-A brick dwelling. An aggressive interior fire attack brought the fire under control within 20 minutes. Forty firefighters remained on the scene for over two hours extinguishing the fire.
Eleven residents, two adults and nine children were displaced from their homes and are being assisted by the American Red Cross. Fire damage is estimated at $180,000.
The cause of the fire is currently undetermined and being investigated by the Cincinnati Fire Investigation Unit.
