Miami Township Trustees have purchased land for a fourth fire station to serve the Day Heights area along SR 131. The new station will be located on Sugar Camp Rd., near SR 131.
No idea when it will be built - heard a rumor a temporary place may be rented to get up and running. Residents of the area have been clamoring for better service.
Staffing seems to be the major obstacle for the new chief to address. Trustees have said they expect to hire the new chief in October to replace Jim Whitworth, who retired in August.
As posted earlier, the Township has 3 new engines on order from Rosenbauer. Two of them should arrive later this year while the third will be a bit later, as it was ordered later.
