In the statistics published in The Relay Line there is a column marked <1 alarm and then a column marked 1 alarm.
Just so that I'm understanding what is printed there, does the <1 alarm column mean any fire that was handled with less than the first alarm assignment (a can handle for Engine 9, Truck 2, and District 3) or only a single company was dispatched and the 1 alarm column means that the full 1st alarm assignment worked and the RIT response would have been sent?
Thanks!

I think that <1 is short hand for less than full compliment, such as an alarm drop where only one truck and one engine goes, or for an auto fire.
