I have noticed in the past week or so that both an Engine and Truck are being dispatched on traffic accidents (not entrapments) where a single company had usually been the norm. Can anyone out there confirm the change in response and the reasoning why? Is it on expressway runs only?
Thanks!

I don't work for Cincinnati, so I can neither confirm nor deny if this is the new response policy. I do know from experience that having an engine and a ladder responding to all MVAs is useful. It allows the engine to attend to the victim(s) while the ladder company secures the car, such as disconnecting the battery and whatever else needs to be done. Also, if it turns out to be an entrapment you'll already have the company with some extrication tools there to start to work on the car before the squad gets there.

The Ladder Companies are being dispatched to block the emergency scene from traffic on expressways or limited access highways. It's a safety "thing".
