I was just down at the car wash on Central Parkway across from the fire apparatus side of the Municipal garage when I saw a brand new, un-lettered pumper pull onto the apron. I was not able to make out the manufacturer (unfortunately not a Seagrave). A new feature to it that I noticed was on the white stripe that is near the bottom of the truck, the white stripe is surrounded on either side by a thinner yellow to gold stripe. The gold and/or yellow stripe is above and below the white stripe. It also had a single clear l-e-d light for the main emergency lights of the truck. I was unable to get a photo of it, but the new engine(s) will be in the CFD shortly.

Does anyone have a status update on the new Rosenbauer pumpers?
Thanks,
Tim.

Three of the new engines have been delivered and are waiting to be assigned. Three more are scheduled for delivery in March and 2 in August. That is 8 total.

For starters, they have to have the entire CFD radio package installed in them by the Radio Shop, the computer systems have to be installed (PMDC and WMD computers), then they have to be assigned to a company, and outfitted to accept and retain all the tools carried by that company. This can mean anywhere from one to two months prep time per unit. A minimum of three seperate departments are involved in taking it from delivery to service. Telecom, Radio Shop, Fleet Services, as well as acceptance by the Fire Department. A spare parts stream has to be in place as well, breakdowns are not uncommon with new equipment, and the fire shop tries to keep them here for repairs, so they can be returned to service quickly when there is a problem.

Bob,
So far only one has been delivered and it is at the 51's. As for the others no one seems to to know who is getting them.

I was at the municipal garage yesterday, and in the garage I saw 2 new CFD pumpers marked for Engine 24 and Engine 20. They are Rosenbauer pumpers of course. Hose beds are still empty, so I would imagine they will be going into service this week or next.

For those who track such things, the 24's old pumper is now in service as E-7. They still have E-24 on the hosebed cover however.
