The times shown below are approximate. 01-19-03 04:53 1234 Ryland Box 2553 Engines 2, 9 Trucks 2, 32 Rescue 38 RAT 20 District 3, 4 RAT assignement sent with the box on a report of people trapped and fire coming out of the second floor.
04:56 2nd Alarm B/O Engine 2 1234 Ryland Box 2553 Engines 32, 38 Truck 19 Squad 52 Rescue 2 Car 4
O.K., now here's the questions about computers and box locations. Box 2553 is the location for Laidlaw & Paddock. That's a block and a half from this fire. In the picture below (yes that's me at my handsome best) I am standing exactly where Box 2565 Ryland & Oakdale was located, about 35 feet from the building where the second alarm was struck.
So the question is, how does the computer determine the box location for a given address? Obviously the machine was off a bit on this one.

Hey Steve,
Tell me that is NOT the house you grew up in.

Nope, the place that burned was next door. Our house was the gray one to the right in this photo. If they had announced the address 1296 I would have left and gone to the fire. When the box was announced I knew that something was amiss as it should have been Box 2565 for that location. So, how does that computer select a box number?
