In the 1960s and 70s and maybe early 80s, there were a group of fire dispatchers whose voices I remember very very well. When the dispatching system changed (upgraded, I suppose) I recall that all of these familiar voices, except maybe one or two, disappeared. Did they retire, or did they choose to resign due to a computerized system, or were they "let go"? Thanks.

Most of the fire alarm operators who served at the Eden Park fire tower (1939-1988) have all retired. I guess most left when they had their time in. I am not aware of anyone being laid off when 9-1-1 and CAD started. I believe one or two dispatchers who worked in Eden Park are still on the air today.
Some of the retired voices you may remember include...
George Snellbaker Pat Holtz Fred Parr Ray Julian Roland Jordey Bob “Shorty” Sims Charlie Arthur John Lindemann Margaret “Maggie” Ross Tom Rielage Mary Sturkey Goldie Phillips-Geske Joe “JJ” Jones
This is not a complete list of CFD dispatchers by any means. Does anyone know the names and dates of other Cincinnati fire dispatchers and the years they served?

Joe "JJ Jones was the last of the Eden Park fire dispatchers who made the move to their present location. JJ has now been retired for over a year.
