Fairfax/Madison Place's new Seagrave will be placed in-service the weekend of January 11th. It's a Seagrave Flame model, that was previously a demonstrator. It's a nice driving rig and a breeze to pump.
Additionally, beginning February 1, 2003 - Fairfax/Madison Place Fire District will begin providing Fire and EMS service to the Village of Newtown. Their name will also change to the "Little Miami Joint Fire & Rescue Department", to better reflect their areas of coverage (which include Fairfax, Madison Place, Newtown, Plainville and other small portions of Columbia Twp.).

Why would Delhi buy those pieces of crap? Have they not learned their lessons from the mighty CFD with the experience with Squad 52, a Spartan/Luverne. Oh how they will soon find out that the cheapest bid is not always the way to go. Peace

The Luverne Fire Apparatus company is not dependable. Hopefully Delhi has a better experience with Luverne than Cincinnati has had with both the pumpers returned due to them being too wide, as well as the frequent problem of the broken welds on Squad 52s 1997 Spartan Heavy Rescue. Questions about Luverne pumpers, contact Capt. Thomas. Questions with Spartan apparatus, contact Gene Lucas at the 52s. They will love to talk about these Cadillacs of fire apparatus ;D
Peace

Have they not learned their lessons from the mighty CFD with the experience with Squad 52, a Spartan/Luverne. Having never operated a Luverne-built rig, I can't speak to their quality or lack thereof. I am sure of one thing though: The Squad 52 is a Spartan/Ferrara.

As I recall SQUAD 52 is a 1997 Spartan Gladiator / Ferrara!

I have heard of the unfortunate Spartan chassis problems with Squad-52's Ferrara. I run at Golf Manor and we have a 1992 LTI ladder on a Spartan Gladiator chassis. It's been a great truck and we've never had a single problem with the cab or chassis. I wonder if some of the problems with the 52's rig weren't due to manufacturing problems at Ferrara.

The Delhi Township Trustees did go with the lowest price.
Through Resolution 2002-69 and Resolution 2002-75, they determined and affirmed that Luverne was "the lowest responsive and responsible bid".

Miami Township's (Ham. Co.) new Quint is a Sutphen...
Also, Delhi's trustees pretty much dictated what truck they will get...there is rumor that they (Delhi) will be ordering a new rescue truck, a third identical pumper, and a tower within the next 18 mos.
And although it isn't brand new, check out Sycamore Townships rescue truck if you get a chance (I think it is a 2001 or 2002?) It is a Seagrave Prototype, lets just say this thing makes the 52's look like a mini-van

Delhi is also replacing the Command Vehicle (Shift Captain's Vehicle) since the 1999 Chevrolet Suburban was totaled in a crash.
