Sometime ago, there was speculation that a new rig would be ordered for Squad 52. What's the statys? Has an order been placed?

Squad 52 will be getting a new rig. I don't believe that the bid for the new squad has been announced at this point. There is also a possibility that a second heavy rescue vehivle may be purchased for use as a haz-mat truck.

George,
Enjoy browsing the website since my dad had retired from the department.
Wanted to update you on the status of a new rig for the 52's. I work for 32 Ford-Mercury in Batavia, OH and do quite a bit of municipal bidding with the city.
The new rig was let out for bid through Hamilton County and due on January 10, 2005. Currently it is under evaluation. Here's a list of the planholder's who inquired about the bid.
All type truck & trailer repair All-american Fire Equipment, Inc. ArmorWorks, LLC. Cal Crim Inc. Command Seagrave Ferrara Firefighting Equipment Freightliner of Cincinnati Hackney Emergency Vehicles International Truck and Engine Co. National Emergency Vehicles Nor E First Response, Inc. One Alarm Fire Equipment Southeastern Emergency Equipment Sutphen Corporation Vogelpohl Fire Equipment, Inc.
Rumor I heard going through the county was due to the home security monies.
Anyway, thought you would like to know and I enjoy browsing the site. Keep up the good work!

All American has been awarded the contract for the new rescues (yep that's plural). I don't know if they will be custom E Ones or if the bodies will be Saulsbury (a mere difference in the name tags as they are constructed in the same building).
The second squad has been ordered so that the proposed Rescue 1 will have a new apparatus if the company is organized. If the plan does not materialize then the other piece will be a spare.
Also, word has it that MAC 1 is also being replaced with a tractor trailer type vehicle.

O.K., here's the new version of what is going on with apparatus. The new rigs are Spartan/Saulsbury's. Two bomb trucks have been ordered, one will be CFD and the other will be somewhere in the county.
One rig has been ordered for Squad 52. A tractor trailer combination has been oreder to be used for haz mat so that the haz mat gear can be moved off of MAC 1 to the new vehicle....

One of the decontamination trailers was at Engine 12. Have any of the other trailer units shown up along with the tractors for them?

I recently bid the tow vehicles which opened on April 29th through the county. McCluskey Chev bid Chevrolet Kodiaks and I bid Ford F750 Super Duties. The specifications were wrote around the F750 chassis.
I am awaiting a meeting with Capt. Thomas to review the specifications so that hopefully they can award the bid soon.
Sincerely,
Dave Trimpe 32 Ford Mercury Inc. Government Sales

Here is what I know for sure about the new apparatus for the 52's (squad 14). It is a Rosenbaum. It is being finished at their plant and must be delivered by April 30th if they are to get paid. It is being built on the chassis that was purchased by E-One to build it. They sold the chassis to Rosenbaum when they lost the deal for the apparatus. It must be delivered under the deadline in order to qualify for what ever money is paying for it. I have seen a photo of it on the line...looks good. Similar to current app, one cabinet longer and tandem rear duals...

I know the city is on an economy kick but really, they could have sprung for pneumatic tires all the way around
